Customer: Royal Albert Hall
Site: Kensington Gore, London
The Royal Albert Hall is one of London's most recognisable iconic buildings, Grade 1 listed and an English Heritage Site. It provides a unique concert hall environment across all genres of music and performance art, most typically known for the annual promenade concerts.
Merit have been selected to provide a new steam heating and low temperature hot water system; together with the removal and replacement of chillers within the basement plantrooms and modification of the distribution networks to provide effective heating and cooling.
Due to the potential disruption to the performances at the Hall the majority of the installation works were undertaken at night outside of the Hall operating hours. Merit worked with the client to produce the detailed design and coordinate the services routing, avoiding any damage to the internal fabric of the building. To ensure that the risk of fire was minimised Merit also utilised specialist welding techniques to undertake site welds.
