Merit is delighted to have been certified to the latest ISO 9001:2015 standard. Although we have been certified to ISO 9001 since 2004, the latest 2015 standard differs considerably from its predecessors.
ISO 9001:2015 consists of specific requirements for a quality management system when an organisation needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
The primary differences from the latest standard to the previous standards is increased responsibility on senior management to ensure their part is played within the quality management system, historically a role placed with the quality department.
Also, the quality risks associated with the business are dealt with utilising the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” philosophy, thus ensuring that all risks are identified at the outset of a process, a plan is devised to mitigate the risk, the actions carried out are trended and are monitored to verify conformity with the QMS.
Merit Holdings gained accreditation to ISO 9001:2015 in June 2016 with the British Assessment Bureau.
